The Relationship Research Institute is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization founded by Dr. John Gottman dedicated to strengthening and empowering families through innovative research.
Our ambitious research agenda is driven by the mission to provide relevant, empirically validated support to improve the lives of couples, children, families and society. To ensure a future where all families can thrive, the Relationship Research Institute (1) conducts research of the highest scientific rigor that (2) addresses salient needs of families (3) and uncovers the changing needs of families and society, (4) informs public policy, (5) makes our research findings accessible by the scientific community and the public, and (6) develops and sponsors programs to meet the needs of families and society.
The Relationship Research Institute is an independent non-profit organization externally funded through grants and donations. After his retirement from the University of Washington, Dr. John Gottman founded the lab in 1997. The Relationship Research Institute has developed a reputation for conducting high-quality, creative and rigorous research.
